How Evening Dress Hire Works at Rouge Boutique
Evening dress hire at Rouge Boutique lets you wear a showpiece dress for three, five or seven days and then hand it back. You choose the dress, book your dates, and collect it from our shop on Castle Street or have it posted to you. Hire starts from £35 for three days.
We launched the service on 30 October 2026. It is there for balls, dinner dances, Christmas parties and Hogmanay, the nights when you want something special and may only wear it once.

How booking works
Every hire dress is listed in our evening dress hire collection, with its size and hire tier on its own page. Each dress is a single size, so start with the ones made in yours.
- Choose your dress and check the size shown on its page
- Pick a hire period of three, five or seven days
- Decide whether to collect it in Inverness or have it posted
- Complete your booking, which includes a refundable deposit

Prices sit in three tiers. The Look starts from £35 for three days, and The Edit and Luxury tiers cost more. A five or seven day booking gives you breathing space if the event is a weekend away.
Collecting in Inverness or having it posted
You can collect your dress from the shop at 71 Castle Street, just behind Inverness Castle. If that isn't practical, we send it by Royal Mail tracked delivery so you can follow it to your door.
Posting the dress back is at your own cost. We'd suggest a tracked service for the return as well, so you can see when it has reached us.
The deposit, the hire tag and the cleaning
Every booking carries a refundable deposit. It is returned once the dress is back with us and has been checked, as set out in our Hire Terms.
Each dress comes with a Rouge hire tag attached. Leave it in place until the day of your event. Taking the tag off shows the dress has been worn, so save that for when you are getting ready.
Cleaning is our job. Once the evening is over, the dress can come straight back to us as it is.
Trying dresses on before you book
Want to see a dress in person first? Call us on 01463 262434 with up to three dresses you'd like to try, and we'll arrange a time for you to come in.
- Note the names of the dresses from their pages
- Check each one is listed in your size
- Bring the shoes you plan to wear, so you can judge the length
A one shoulder or off the shoulder dress needs the right bra underneath. Ask about a fitting on the same visit, and we'll find something from our bra collection that works with it.
Evening dresses you can hire now
The hire collection includes dresses from The 8th Sign, Hope & Ivy and Frank Lyman. A few we'd point you towards:
- The 8th Sign Diana, a gold one shoulder midi with a single sculpted puff sleeve
- The 8th Sign Solana in true scarlet, with gold and crystal around the waist
- Hope & Ivy Marlo, a sheer black wrap maxi scattered with embroidered stars and moons
- Hope & Ivy Josette, a black pencil midi with teal and silver sequin flowers across the shoulders
- Frank Lyman cape sleeve dresses in jade green and imperial blue

For a winter ball, look at the Frank Lyman styles. Sheer chiffon falls from the shoulders and covers the arms without adding any weight.

Frequently asked questions
How does evening dress hire work at Rouge Boutique?
Choose a dress from our evening dress hire collection, check the size shown on its page, and book it for three, five or seven days. You can collect it from our shop at 71 Castle Street, Inverness, or have it sent by Royal Mail tracked delivery. Every booking includes a refundable deposit, which is returned once the dress is back with us and has been checked, as set out in our Hire Terms. We take care of the cleaning.
How much does it cost to hire an evening dress?
Hire starts from £35 for three days on dresses in The Look tier. Dresses in The Edit and Luxury tiers cost more, and each dress shows its tier on its own page. You can book for three, five or seven days. Every booking also carries a refundable deposit, returned once the dress is back with us and has been checked, as set out in our Hire Terms.
Can I try a hire dress on before I book?
Yes. Call us on 01463 262434 and tell us which dresses you would like to see, up to three at a time, and we will arrange a try-on at our shop on Castle Street, just behind Inverness Castle. Each hire dress is a single size, shown on its page, so it helps to pick dresses listed in your size before you call.
Do I need to clean the dress before I return it?
No. Rouge takes care of the cleaning, so there is nothing to wash or press before the dress comes back to us. If it was posted to you, the return postage is at your own cost. Please leave the Rouge hire tag attached until the day of your event, because removing it shows the dress has been worn.
Can a hire dress be posted to me?
Yes. Instead of collecting from 71 Castle Street, you can choose Royal Mail tracked delivery, so you can follow the dress on its way to you. Sending it back is at your own cost. Every hire dress is a single size, so check the size shown on the dress's own page before you book.
